I like the whole dark/light contrast here. I think it works well with the color of the marble. The picture could have been much better though. With less harsh lighting you could see the neat fountain in the background.

It's kind of cool, but as you say it could've been better. You can't see half of the face because it's so dark, and that side of the picture in general is a bit dark.
